Been talking about Sushi Hiro with Miss C for ages and the occasion finally came on the Thursday before the long Easter weekend. VERY FRESH, great variety, reasonably priced, one of the best in town (would be even better if it’s really IN TOWN).

Feel so blessed to be able to experience yet another amazing meal at The Grill at The Dorchester. This WAS the highlight of the month (even the quarter).
Poached turobt and venison and pigeon were on the tasting menu, hmm… no thanks! So, take a guess – what did we have? Before the answer is revealed, here are some teasers:
Apple sorbet with crispy bacon (complimentary) ;
Pan Fried Scallops with truffles, mushroom duxelle and chervil sauce (which tasted mysteriously extremely similar to high quality black bean sauce!) ;
Foie Gras and Beetroot with figs and toasted brioche (wasn’t the pan friend foie gras Ms C ordered, but equally great)
So? Got the answer??
Yes you got it!! Fillet of Angus Beef with braised oxtail, watercress and glazed onions. A very happening plate with slices of incredibly juicy, tender fillet with rich flavours (oh no, seriously running out of vocabulary!)
Again, the photos don’t do justice at all! The rather dark but elegant dining room meant all photos were hopeless – this is as far as basic photo editing software can go…
Let’s rewind to the bit before this fantastic beef came -
All 3 of us ordered this and we were happily waiting for it until we couldn’t hold our curiosity and asked one of the waiters what lies inside the graceful trolley that stood quietly about 10 feet away. Needless to say it was THE ROAST – but it wasn’t on the menu we said!! Mr waiter told us it was a special and we could change the order if we want to. Mr C went for it without hesitation and it turned out to be the one of the VERY BEST OF BEEF that we had recently.
Service was excellent – attentive, friendly and accommodative <- order the roast and you will know what we mean. LOVELY!!
